The Paraiso Escondido Home Owners Association Ltd. was incorporated in Alberta, BC, Canada on October 19, 2012.
Villas Paraiso Escondido was formed from a vision to create tropical homes for Canadians to winter upon retirement or to vacation with their families.
In the early years, we started every Happy Hour gathering with a toast…”Another day in Paradise”! This is still our experience when we are in our “home away from home”. It is a community of people from all walks
of life, bringing their perspectives and expertise to make a diverse group of Canadians. Many potlucks and happy hours have formed friendships that have endured throughout the years and are often maintained back in
Canada. We look forward each year to seeing our Honduran/Canadian neighbours.
Our beautiful homes are built more to the Canadian standards with on-demand hot water, Air conditioning in every room, lovely inside finishing, laundry appliances, modern fridges and stoves, beautiful ceramic tile, and some granite countertops, incredible outdoor patios, etc. But, best of all, all of the homes are either on, or only minutes away from the beach to participate in the sea swims or water sports. And, we have a wonderful pool for social gatherings or cooling off.
Our community is within walking distance of an American-staffed hospital (with very low fees), and villages with local
tiendas (shops) for small household items, produce and hardware. Honduran women give onsite massages and mani-pedis at ridiculously low prices! It becomes a social event with visiting when waiting upon your turn.
Offsite activities include boat trips to Cayos Cochinos or the Bay Islands (Roatan, Utila and Guanajuato) for snorkeling, and nearby zip line adventures, mud baths and hot pools, and waterfalls and rivers with swimming ponds. Shopping is available in the city of La Ceiba located about one hour away with modern stores, hotels and restaurants of all kinds.
Taxis cost about $1.50 to go anywhere in the city!
The local Hondurans have proven to be invaluable to our experience, assisting us not only in all of our building projects and maintaining our homes and landscapes, but in procuring the in-season lobster and shrimp, finding places to purchase items and navigating the Spanish language issues. Their loyalty and friendships have enriched us in so many ways.
Those who have so little give so much.
Many homeowners participate in activities in the local communities, in the schools, the orphanage, the free clinic, and just events such as birthday parties and soccer games. You can be as involved as you wish to be.
So, as you can see, there is something for everybody in Paraiso Escondido! You can relax on the beach, or be as adventurous as you wish.
Come to the land of the sea and sun
